New Life Church, a 10 000 strong megachurch had gone through two major tragedies in past few years. Its founder, Ted Haggard had to step down from his senior pastor position amid allegations of sexual misconduct. And just as the church were starting to recover from that fiasco, the shootings occurred. Despite such devastating events, they persevered and out of it all, this song was birthed. It was written by Glenn Packiam, one of our own from Malaysia. It has become my anthem during these times of “uncertainty”.

It speaks of the One who is unchanging. Who has been around before the beginning of time and knows every intricate detail of His creation. Hence He truly understands when we’re tired and weary. And He knows to lift us when we’re weak.

Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.

He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.

Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;

but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
